2025 KTM FREERIDE E https://www.motorcyclepowersportsnews.com/2025-ktm-freeride-e/ Tue, 22 Oct 2024 16:00:00 +0000 https://www.motorcyclepowersportsnews.com/?p=203531 Bringing new energy to KTM e-mobility.

The post 2025 KTM FREERIDE E appeared first on Motorcycle & Powersports News.

]]>
Ten years after KTM first introduced the electric Freeride concept to the market, the completely refreshed 2025 KTM FREERIDE E represents the company’s next step in its approach to the liberty, practicality and vast potential of dual-sport e-mobility.

The 2025 KTM FREERIDE E is a 99% new product featuring an in-house-developed drivetrain, expanded battery potential and high-class components wrapped with unforgettable style and design that always distinguishes orange motorcycles from the crowd.

KTM treasures the virtues of the platform: The KTM FREERIDE E tackles not only some of the environmental issues with off-roading (low emissions and near silent noise, which means it can be ridden almost anywhere) but also the benefits of low maintenance. Better still, the 2025 KTM FREERIDE E is street-legal, meaning a new world of riding opportunities, off-road or on, have been opened up.

The bike provides the thrill of instant torque and power, and a setup with both brakes mounted on the handlebars will allow experienced users to work more on their technique and positioning while being the easiest possible introduction to the awesomeness of riding for newcomers.

Back in 2014, KTM unveiled the KTM FREERIDE E in enduro form. A decade later, technology has advanced, hardware is better and lighter, and software has become cleverer. Into this setting comes the latest expression of the KTM FREERIDE E, showing that KTM rigorously believes in the power and possibilities of battery power. The 2025 KTM FREERIDE E is a natural progression from the superb roster of new KTM SX-E 2 and KTM SX-E 5 e-minis, which forms the ideal learning stage for future riders.

So, what’s new?

KTM’s research and development (R&D) department has been busy bringing the most exciting interpretation of electric drivetrain technology to the KTM FREERIDE E platform. Boasting 11 kilowatts of nominal output, 18.5 kilowatts peak power, more than 37 newton meters of torque and a top speed of 59 mph (95 km/h), the engine is a much quieter, cooler unit that is water- and dustproof and fully integrated into the overall character and feel of the motorcycle. Three ride modes (ECO, NORMAL and SPORT) and three energy recuperation settings (OFF, MID and HIGH) can be synced to ensure flexibility with the range and power package of the KTM FREERIDE E. Traction control can also be pegged to a certain level to limit or increase wheelspin. More safety features come from the “rollover sensor” that cuts the power in the event of a crash.

KTM prioritized nimble and light handling and developed a new chassis. The geometry has been altered, and the wheelbase widened for more stability and comfort. The chassis can remain featherweight and slim by hinging the chrome-molybdenum steel frame on the load-bearing engine and battery architecture. Expect the final ride-ready weight to be less than 251 pounds (114 kilograms), and the aluminum and glass-fiber reinforced nylon subframe helps in this respect. The KTM FREERIDE E’s seat height is 35.6 inches (906 millimeters).

The 63.9-pound (29-kilogram) MX50 lithium-ion battery has been tested and proven in the most extreme conditions. It has been constructed in a way that means it is interchangeable, allowing the use of a second pack while the charging process takes place or to increase travel use. The capacity is 5 kilowatt-hours, an improvement of 1 kilowatt-hour compared to the previous KTM FREERIDE E and 20% more riding time or distance. Battery life can withstand over 1,000 charge cycles before dipping to 80% effectiveness. Typical enduro riding time is estimated to be between two and three hours.

The KTM FREERIDE E comes with a 660-watt charger and will complete a full charge in eight hours with a normal household supply. A 20% to 80% rate can be reached in four to five hours.

Robust and dependable handling is achieved with the latest generation of WP Suspension. The front-end is reactive but also planted when required, thanks to light 43-millimeter WP XACT split design forks, with the air capsule in the left unit and the oil damping system in the right. Adjustment is easily made with the single air pressure valve and supplied air pump for preload and clickers for compression and rebound.

The brand-new design of the WP XPLOR PDS system provides 250 millimeters of travel on the rear. Oil flow has been optimized for a more consistent damping feeling from the 374-millimeter shock. New bearing seals have enlarged service intervals. The WP XPLOR PDS comes with adjustable clickers for tool-less alterations on the fly.

Other features include black aluminum wheels, BRAKTEC braking systems with 260/240-millimeter front and rear discs, a new switchcube selection unit for the handlebars, and in-mold graphics and aesthetics that complement the look and image of the KTM SX and KTM EXC lines.

2025 KTM FREERIDE E Technical Highlights

 • New 2025 model from the ground up with a new, in-house KTM drivetrain
 • 11 kilowatts of nominal power, 18.5 kilowatts of peak power, 37 newton meters of torque and a top speed of 59 mph (95 km/h)
 • 20% more battery potential, featuring an eight-hour charging time with a 660-watt unit, 1.5 hours with a 3.3-kilowatt power charger (0% to 100% capacity) and 5 kilowatt-hour battery capacity for two to three hours of enduro riding time
 • 21-inch/18-inch aluminum wheels
 • Adjustable and light WP XACT and XPLOR suspension technology redesigned chromoly steel frame purpose-built for the platform and 251 pounds (114 kilograms) of total weight

2025 KTM SX-E 5 https://www.motorcyclepowersportsnews.com/2025-ktm-sx-e-5/ Fri, 18 Oct 2024 16:00:00 +0000 https://www.motorcyclepowersportsnews.com/?p=203480 A new generation to empower the next generation.

The post 2025 KTM SX-E 5 appeared first on Motorcycle & Powersports News.

]]>
KTM is fully charged for the future phases of e-mobility to get youngsters rolling with their first ride on two-wheels and to sharpen their skills to the point where a “READY TO RACE” mentality becomes a way of life.

The foundational step has been polished, and the new 2025 KTM SX-E 5 mini cross motorcycle represents a benchmark in the industry for the commitment to quality. The KTM SX-E 5 might enable hours of fun, learning and stimulate the early flow of adrenaline, but these bikes are not “toys.” This is the start of a new era for the next generation of riders and racers.

Here are six ways in which KTM is plugging in to play with the 2025 KTM SX-E 5.

Drivetrain Development

For 2025, the KTM SX-E 5 has a super-advanced, fully electric, water-cooled permanent magnet motor that provides 30% more riding time compared to the previous version and peak power at 5 kilowatts. The unit is dust- and waterproof, which makes it low wearing and maintenance-free, while the integrated engine control unit (ECU) guarantees a direct but very controllable power delivery. The surge is good enough to guarantee exhilaration for youngsters; however, it also packs enough to satisfy the demands for racing. In short, it’s a high-quality and real-world “READY TO RACE” alternative to the petrol-powered 50cc engine. A multifunctional instrument display shows the state and charge level of the battery, in addition to one of the six different ride maps that administer how strong and fast the potency of the drivetrain feeds through the throttle.

Frame Finesse: ‘Go as You Grow’

One of the best features of the KTM SX-E 5 is the adjustable dimensions of the bike. The subframe is made of lightweight, fiberglass reinforced plastic elements, which can be mounted in different positions to suit the changing size of the junior rider. The variance window is 24.9 to 26.8 inches (634 to 682 millimeters) and is hiked up or slid down by easy movements with the seat and bodywork. An even lower seat height can be achieved by dropping the forks down in the triple clamps. The frame is forged from lightweight, high-strength chromium-molybdenum steel for precise agility and stability, but a new 2025 modification provides more robustness, handling and a tougher rear shock mounting point.

2025 KTM SX-E 5

WP Suspension for That Factory Feeling

The adult bike pedigree means the suspension equipment for the KTM SX-E 5 is formidable. A fully adjustable, upside-down WP XACT air fork with a 35-millimeter tube diameter and 205 millimeters of travel ensures comfort and confidence. The air spring fitted in the left fork leg can be adjusted perfectly to the rider’s weight using a simple air pump. The WP XACT shock absorber is also flexible (preload, rebound and compression) and linked directly to the cast swingarm, providing excellent damping performance with 193 millimeters of travel.

Battery Bounty

The battery on the KTM SX-E 5 is constructed from 84 modern lithium-ion cells in a robust die-cast aluminum casing, harnessing energy for 907 watt-hours: enough for two hours of a relaxed rhythm riding or 30 minutes of hardcore throttle abuse for race conditions. An advanced battery management system administers and preserves the lifecycle of the battery.

Counting the Charge

The KTM SX-E 5’s charging time has been reduced, with 0% to 80% capacity achievable in 45 minutes while 0% to 100% is possible in just 70 minutes. The external worldwide charger supplying up to 900 watts can be connected to any 110- or 230-volt socket. Safety features? Of course. A rollover sensor cuts off the power in the event of a fall, while a wrist lanyard cut-off key stops the motor in the event of an uncontrollable riding scenario. Ride modes can be locked and saved with a dongle that can be found under the seat.

The Perks of the Parts

Outright performance is not the only benefit of the 2025 KTM SX-E 5. The motorcycle comes with a host of outstanding parts so that the bikes sit comfortably in the full all-conquering KTM SX range. Strong, aluminum alloy NEKKEN handlebars taper from 28 millimeters in the center to 22 millimeters in the bend to 18 millimeters in the grip, enabling the use of thinner lock-on ODI grips, engineered especially for electric drive. Also, on a theme of strength, the bike has light, black, anodized aluminum rims (12-inch front and 10-inch rear) with MAXXIS MX-ST tires for superb all-round traction across diverse terrain. Top-spec wheels are common components through the full-size KTM SX range. Another area of shared engineering is the hydraulic brake calipers and waved discs front and rear, supplied by braking expert Brembo. The design of the KTM SX-E 5 features the latest in-mold graphics, with a bold orange livery that perfectly sets off the factory-look orange frame, orange seat and race-sharpened, narrow bodywork.

The new 2025 KTM SX-E 5 will be rolling off the Austria production line and available at authorized KTM dealers from November onward. For more information, visit ktm.com.

The post Can-Am Launches the Pulse and Origin Electric Motorcycles appeared first on Motorcycle & Powersports News.

]]>
Can-Am is energizing the motorcycle industry by announcing the availability of its highly-anticipated 2025 Can-Am Pulse and Can-Am Origin all-electric motorcycle lineup. Building on BRP’s rich 80-year history of powersports innovation and excellence, Can-Am is changing the dynamic and opening the road to a new generation of riders and electric vehicle enthusiasts.

“Today, we are reclaiming our two-wheel heritage by bringing new excitement to the electric motorcycle industry,” said José Boisjoli, president and CEO of BRP. “Fifty years ago, Can-Am celebrated many victories with its Track ‘n’ Trail motorcycles, and we are bringing that pedigree back with a focus on modern electric power, connectivity and thrill. We intend to become a global leader in that space with true innovation designed to simplify the riding experience for new riders and introduce electric motorcycles to all.”

The Can-Am Pulse and Origin models redefine the ride and awaken the energy in every rider, whether in the city or off the beaten path. Each is driven by an all-new Rotax E-Power power unit — BRP’s proprietary electric technology — which delivers instant torque on demand, merging pulsating performance with style and sophistication.

A key feature of the Can-Am motorcycle lineup that sets it apart is an innovative liquid-cooled system, which includes the battery, charger, inverter and motor. The system significantly limits battery degradation over time while simultaneously optimizing range and charge time. In fact, riders will experience quick and efficient charging each and every time and in any condition — from 20% to 80% in 50 minutes — using Level 2 charging at home or at automotive charging stations.

2025 Can-Am Pulse

2025 Can-Am Pulse

The Can-Am Pulse is crafted for the energy of city life. An agile and nimble naked motorcycle designed for smart commuters and urban explorers, it features a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, allowing riders to navigate with ease and stay connected to each ride with the BRP GO! App. It also has a unique feature, an Active ReGen system that provides enhanced control and smooth deceleration while giving more power back to the battery.

The Can-Am Pulse stands balanced with a low center of gravity and ride height, and it presents a comfortable yet assertive riding position, maximizing agility in an active urban environment. Four riding modes — Normal, Sport+, ECO and Rain — allow it to adapt to different environments and rider preferences, while KYB suspension with 140 millimeters of travel at the forks keep it planted with a sportier feel. The optional “Pulse 73” trim — a tribute to Can-Am’s motorcycling past — adds LED lighting, LinQ gauge spoiler, and signature paint and badging.

2025 Can-Am Origin

2025 Can-Am Origin

The Can-Am Origin is engineered for adventure beyond city limits. It boasts the same Active ReGen and connective technology as the Pulse, and it wields unmistakable Can-Am DNA and motocross heritage with all-terrain readiness, enhanced suspension and dual sport tires. It adds an Off-Road riding mode, and its high ground clearance and full KYB suspension with 255 millimeters of travel up front and adjustability in the rear inspire confidence off the beaten path and firm planting on paved roadways. The Can-Am Origin offers six riding modes: Normal, Sport, ECO, Rain, Off-Road and Off-Road+.

Simply put, the adventure-packed Can-Am Origin brings new exhilaration to both the street and the trail with a modern, multi-terrain capability. An optional “Origin 73” trim adds LED lighting, LinQ windshield, and signature paint and badging.

Both the Can-Am Pulse and Origin come standard with a durable 8.9 kilowatt-hour battery that has been battle-tested in scorching desert heat and cold winter temperatures. The system powers the Can-Am Pulse to an estimated city range of up to 100 miles (160 kilometers) and the Can-Am Origin to an estimated city range of up to 90 miles (145 kilometers).

The Can-Am Pulse and Origin are built to be easy to use and easy to ride for new and seasoned riders alike. Without a standard clutch and transmission, riders can simply twist the throttle and instantly feel the acceleration and premium riding experience. Additionally, riders no longer have to walk their bike backward into position, as both of these new models feature a reverse function. Riders will also appreciate the near-silent and vibration-free experience, as well as the smooth and precise power delivery even in tight, low speed situations.

With more than 20 compatible LinQ Nano tool-free accessories for both the Can-Am Pulse and Origin models, there are multiple configurations for a wholly personalized ride experience.

Pre-orders for Can-Am Pulse and Can-Am Origin are now available at select BRP dealerships in France, Germany, Spain, the U.K., Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Austria, the U.S. and Canada. People can visit a Can-Am motorcycle dealership and order the model of their choice, with production starting in Q4 of 2024 and global deliveries starting in early 2025.

The post Infinite Machine Introduces P1: First Edition appeared first on Motorcycle & Powersports News.

]]>
New York-based Infinite Machine launched the company’s newest electrified scooter with their new P1: First Edition. Engineered for urban mobility and conveniently traveling city environments, the new Infinite Machine P1: First Edition features best-in-class performance, an iconic futuristic design, next-generation technology and unparalleled utility. The limited edition run of 250 P1: First Edition scooters will be the second production run of the popular space-age inspired EV.

“We had great success with our original P1 production batch, and we want to build on that momentum by opening up further orders for deliveries next year,” said Eddie Cohen, co-founder of Infinite Machine. “We are also hosting a summer tour in New York, the Hamptons, Aspen, L.A. and San Francisco to expand our reach and showcase our scooters nationwide.”

P1 arose out of brothers Joe and Eddie Cohen’s dissatisfaction with existing two-wheel electric vehicles. On one side of the spectrum are plastic, low-end vehicles with subpar performance and rudimentary technology. On the other end are legacy companies who struggle to adapt to the possibilities of electrification, new technology and modern sensibilities. As lifelong New Yorkers, the Cohen brothers saw an opportunity to build the ultimate vehicle for exploring and navigating their home city. With a team of engineers and designers, they designed the vehicle of their dreams, drawing inspiration from Brutalist architecture, consumer technology and artists like Donald Judd.

Featuring planar anodized aluminum panels and a powder-coated steel chassis, P1 is striking from every angle. It is the fastest vehicle in its class, reaching a top speed of 55 miles-per-hour with lightning quick acceleration from a six kilowatt motor (12 kilowatt peak) and a 3.2 kilowatt-hour, 72-volt battery system. Charging is easy with P1’s removable UL-certified battery, compatible with standard household outlets. Riders will get 60 miles of city riding on a full charge.

With this announcement, the company sheds more light on the technology that will be included in P1: an automotive-grade dashboard and infotainment system that runs Carplay—a first of its kind for two-wheelers—and InfiniteOS, its proprietary non-car operating system, which will get continuous over the air updates after customers receive their vehicles. Alongside the onboard computer are two cameras, front and back, for theft prevention, safety and content creation. P1 also uses GPS, along with mechanical and digital technologies for ensuring that vehicles are not tampered with. When customers are away from their vehicles, they can use P1’s iOS and Android apps for remote unlock access to the vehicle and with location tracking.

P1’s extensibility goes beyond software. It features a rear modular system that allows customers to customize it according to their specific requirements, adding extra cargo space and functionality as needed. Ample storage is integrated throughout the vehicle, providing storage for all essentials and offering the option to mount additional accessories, ranging from cargo carriers to loudspeakers. Whether it’s daily commuting essentials, groceries or recreational gear, P1 ensures that everything you need is easily accessible and securely stored.

P1 was designed to fit seamlessly into customers’ lives. It can be parked between two cars on any city street, and its removable battery allows for at-home charging. The vehicle can seat two passengers comfortably and can be operated for up to speeds of 30 mph with a standard driver’s license in the U.S. With a motorcycle license, a software unlock enables speeds of up to 55 mph.

“Our mission is to inspire a post-car future by building the best alternatives to cars. That starts with P1,” said Joseph Cohen, CEO of Infinite Machine. “We are excited to open Batch II up as we gear up towards production.” P1 blends an iconic design with thrilling performance and practical utility. Customers can order P1 today, with deliveries in 2025 for customers in the U.S. Interested potential customers outside of the U.S. can add their names to a waitlist. P1 First Edition starts at $10,000 with a $1,000 deposit due on order.

Ryvid is offering customers the opportunity to transform their riding experience by ordering the Power Controller Upgrade by Accelerated Systems Inc. for their Anthem or Outset Electric Motorcycles. New customers can configure their order for a new Ryvid Anthem or Outset to have the ASI Controller fitted at Ryvid’s Californian assembly facility. Alternatively, existing owners can install the ASI Controller to their Anthem as a DIY project or by requesting a visit from a Ryvid technician.

Testing by Ryvid engineers found that the ASI Controller provided faster acceleration thanks to a significant increase in power and torque delivery. Peak torque at the wheel using the stock 4.7:1 final drive saw output rise from 250 foot-pounds for the stock controller to 334 foot-pounds using the Power Controller Upgrade by ASI. Similarly, peak horsepower jumped from 20 horsepower to 27 horsepower. And the best part: no negative effect to the battery range. In fact, the Power Controller Upgrade by ASI not only makes the Ryvid Anthem and Outset models more entertaining to ride, but also more highway capable thanks to the improved acceleration and torque.

It’s worth noting that given the performance increase, the Power Controller Upgrade by ASI is recommended for experienced riders. However, both the Ryvid Anthem and Outset models retain their selectable riding modes, allowing riders to choose either Sport or Eco modes. When set to Eco, the power delivery is softened somewhat, and regenerative braking is provided. In Sport mode, the rider can experience the full performance of the 72-volt air-cooled, brushless DC motor and removable 4.3 kilowatt-hour battery with integrated charger. In Sport mode, regenerative braking is stronger and can be further increased by a rider selected trigger.

To create the “ultimate urban slayer,” the Power Controller Upgrade by ASI can be fitted to any new Ryvid Anthem or Outset ordered directly from the company website. As a limited time promotional offer, Outset orders placed before July 31, 2024, will receive the ASI Controller for free. New or current owners of the Ryvid Anthem can order the $800 controller via the website’s Shop tab.

For full disclosure: DIY installation is not for beginners. Owners will need to install the supplied secondary wiring harness to power the Power Controller Upgrade by ASI. It isn’t a simple plug ’n play installation, but there is a video to guide owners at ryvid.com. Installation is estimated at approximately three hours. Alternatively, contact the Ryvid support team to request installation by a Ryvid technician for a service fee.

Riders and media who have been able to experience and review the Ryvid Anthem with ASI Controller have all reported very positively on the available performance, elevating their positive impressions of the highly affordable electric motorcycle, which is available at $6,495 for the Anthem or $5,995 for the new Outset.

American Built

The Ryvid Anthem Electric and Ryvid Outset Electric are available to order now from ryvid.com. The $6,495 Anthem is available for immediate delivery in a choice of five colors, while deliveries of the $5,995 Outset will begin in the summer. It can be specified in either Sector Red or Vapor Grey.

Please note, riders must have a motorcycle license to ride the Anthem or Outset.

The Anthem and Outset share a rigid steel backbone frame, instrument display, removable 4.3-kilowatt-hour battery with integrated charger, 72-volt air-cooled, brushless DC motor, controller and sealed belt drive.

Both machines are capable of over 75 miles-per-hour top speed and will provide up to 75 miles range. The battery can be charged quickly from both 110-volt and 220-volt power supplies.

Outset has a 33-inch seat height, but its compliant suspension and narrow cushion mean it will comfortably accommodate a range of riders. The Anthem seat is adjustable from 31 inches to 34 inches to accommodate an even wider range of riders.

Weighing just 313 and 315 pounds, respectively, the Anthem and Outset share featherweight architecture and a low center of gravity. With the major components positioned at axle level, both bikes exhibit extraordinary handling characteristics, making them extremely easy to change direction at high speed or maneuver at low speed.

Another benefit of electric power is the Ryvid Reverse Drive. At the push of a button when stopped, the rider can move the motorcycle backwards at walking speed to extricate it from perhaps a tight parking position or awkward slope.
