In 2004, Ducati announced at the Misano circuit at the World Ducati Week that a low-volume road replica of the Desmosedici would be available for reservations beginning in June 2006. Ducati would make 1,500 Desmosedici models available for public purchase. Named the Ducati Desmosedici RR, this bike is a limited production road-legal version of the Desmosedici MotoGP race bike.
Ducati first showed a final production version of the bike at a press day for the ’06 Italian Grand Prix at Mugello. The Desmosedici RR, which stands for Racing Replica, claimed to be the first true road replica of a MotoGP racing bike. Priority for ordering was given to Ducati 999R owners, with production projected at one bike per day at a retail cost of $72,500.
The price included a three-year warranty and servicing, cover, and a racing kit including a race-only exhaust system, a slip-on muffler, and complementary fuel and ignition mapping in a “race ECU.” It also included enough sponsor stickers to fill both sides of the bike.
With forged magnesium wheels, the Desmosedici RR was the first Ducati production bike to use them. Aprilia used them in 2002 on its limited edition RSVR Tuono. The Ducati Desmosedici RR production started beginning in October 2007 through December 2008, and the first customer orders delivered in January 2008.

Showcased on BellissiMoto.com, this Ducati Desmo features an UNOBTAINIUM MegaTech full MotoGP titanium race exhaust from Japan at an original cost of over $9,000. In fact, only about 15 systems were produced for the entire world.
The bike also features Marchesini forged magnesium 17″ wheels, Brembo T-Drive rotors, Durbahn ultra lightweight front and rear axles, and an EVR slipper clutch, open clutch cover and clutch slave. In addition, this Desmo has a few titanium parts on it, including the rotor bolts, caliper spacers, toe pegs, oil fill plug, and rearset pivot bolts.
To round out some of the exquisite details of this Ducati, the bike also boasts a Bazzaz tuner, a Samco silicone hose kit with stainless steel rolled edge clamps, Rizoma resevoirs, a Tech Spec tank grip center pad, Domino grips, and a CNC Racing front axle nut and valve covers.
Despite this bike being over 13 years old, it has just 2,000 miles on it and is example No. 171 of 1,500 ever made. It was recently for sale for $70,000.
