UBCO Unveils New E-Bike at AIMExpo

As UBCO continues to build its dealer network in the U.S. with its reliable 2X2 dual-purpose bike that has been in production for a few years, the company used its AIMExpo presence to show off a new, sportier e-bike that is aimed at dirt bike riders and mountain bikers.

As UBCO continues to build its dealer network in the U.S. with its reliable 2X2 dual-purpose bike that has been in production for a few years, the company used its AIMExpo presence to show off a new, sportier e-bike that is aimed at dirt bike riders and mountain bikers.

The FRX1 is an all new trail bike that comes with both super-pedal-assist and twist throttle riding modes. The company says it offers a totally unique riding experience. With throttle control mode, the power comes on smooth and offers instant acceleration. Combined with adjustable regenerative braking, this mode is geared for high speed tracks or technical segments.

Offering a top speed of 50 mph, the FRX1 is faster than most e-bikes and lighter weight at 115 lbs. The pedal assist mode uses the electric motor to deliver additional power when the rider pushes the pedal down. This mode works best for trail riding sections.

The charging time is only 2-1/2 hours and the FRX1 offers a maximum ridng range of 62 miles with its 2.2 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. The company says it delivers 15 Kw of power, which equates to about 20 hp.

Our take – We witnessed the FRX1 accelerate inside the Columbus Convention Center and it was impressive, almost scary fast. This bike may convert some dirt bike riders to give it a try, especially for training days. It is very lightwieight and easy to carry on the back of an SUV or car. While you can’t ride on bicycle trails with an e-bike like this, there are many trails where it should be right at home. It could be a segment changer, but the MSRP is not going to be for those entry-level e-bike riders. We were told that it will retail for around $8,999.

The company’s 2×2 dual-sport bike retails for $6,999 and has more range but a reduced top speed of 30 mph.
