Polaris Inc. is again redefining what is possible on snow with the launch of its 2025 Snowmobile and Timbersled lineup. Polaris’ 2025 snow lineup offers the latest in industry-leading technology and engineered upgrades that enhance the riding experience, from introducing its patented DYNAMIX suspension technology that offers riders more comfort and control, to designing a lighter RMK lineup that gives mountain riders even more control, to launching new models with the RMK SP and 650 Titan Adventure widetrack and expanding the availability of the customer-favorite Patriot 9R engine. In addition, Polaris provides riders with the opportunity to build their dream snowmobiles through SnowCheck, the industry’s most comprehensive customization order program for customers, which is available through March 27, 2024.

“We are continuously working to redefine what’s possible, and we do so by listening to our riders and designing a lineup that delivers the best experience on snow,” said Jenny Nack, vice president and general manager, Polaris Snow. “With our 2025 snowmobile lineup, we are introducing new features, technology or upgrades across nearly every one of our snow segments. Trail riders will discover reinvented suspension technology with our patented DYNAMIX for improved handling and added confidence on the trails. Our RMK mountain riders will be excited for the added control thanks to lighter sleds, as well as a new RMK option that makes mountain riding more approachable. Plus, we have enhanced capability and agility for those using their snowmobiles for utility work but also want to have some fun on the trails.”

Bringing the Latest in Suspension and Engine Innovation to Trail Riders

Polaris is once again setting new standards by bringing its patented DYNAMIX suspension to snow on the 2025 INDY VR1 via SnowCheck exclusive. Polaris’ DYNAMIX technology is the only electronic system on the market that controls all four shocks to smooth out bumps and help flatten any corner, along with added balance, giving the rider additional control while navigating the trail. Even more impressive is DYNAMIX’s Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that senses vehicle movement and automatically adjusts shock compression to the premier trail handling on the snow, giving the rider added confidence and comfort.

Additionally, riders need not wait any longer: Polaris listened to the feedback and is bringing the Patriot 9R engine to the INDY XCR and Switchback Assault as a part of its 2025 lineup. Proven in the mountains, the 9R engine will deliver corner-to-corner acceleration and fast-response for thrill-seekers on or off trails.

Redefining the Mountain Ride

The Polaris Rocky Mountain King (RMK) redefined the standards for deep snow performance, and Polaris is doing so again with model year 2025. Known for its instant lift, effortless control and immediate response, the RMK is about to get even better — and lighter. At up to seven pounds lighter, the RMK lineup features a new throttle to make it easier for riders to maneuver in deep snow conditions. The weight reduction also provides an improved power-to-weight ratio, resulting in easier direction changes. In addition, the 2025 Patriot Boost and Patriot 9R PRO RMK and RMK Khaos models feature new running boards, drive shaft and ergonomic updates with a lower seat height that allows for a more predictable and comfortable backcountry riding experience.

In addition, Polaris is expanding the RMK lineup with an all-new RMK SP that offers a high-quality mountain sled starting at $13,999. Offering capabilities like those riders love from RMK, the RMK SP suspension features Polaris IFP shocks calibrated to be more controllable and easier to ride. Other features include a full-length, tapered tunnel and a 155-inch track length enabling improved rider connection to the sled. The RMK SP is an approachable mountain sled for riders looking to explore the beauty and adventure of backcountry riding.

Do More with an All-New, Capable Widetrack

The 2025 lineup also offers exciting news for riders who use their snowmobiles for both work and play with the new 650 TITAN Adventure. Built on the proven Matryx platform with the quick accelerating 650 Patriot engine, the TITAN Adventure is the most capable widetrack in Polaris history designed for those who need to do it all. With features like the all-new, patented BackTrak20 Rear Suspension and Trailbreaker skis, the TITAN can climb on top of the snow better than any previous model — in forward or reverse — making it the ultimate job aid for utility riders. To further assist in helping conquer whatever the day holds, the 650 TITAN Adventure boasts a lineup of 12 new Polaris-engineered accessories for the TITAN Adventure, from hub house carriers to tool holders to an electric chainsaw mount and more.

“Whether that be introducing new models like RMK SP or the TITAN Adventure or enhancing performance by bringing proven technologies like DYNAMIX suspension and the 9R engine to our trail and crossover segments, our commitment to raising the bar is relentless,” said Nack.

Rounding out the technology offerings, the 2025 lineup boasts an optional 7-inch display powered by RIDE COMMAND. The Polaris-exclusive display has dedicated GPS mapping and connected rider technology, all without needing cellular connection. Key features for 2025 include public and private land information for confident riding throughout the U.S.; re-integrated Wi-Fi capabilities on select models to make connecting to your sled easier; an upgraded, five-way joystick to improve control over the display; and various technological enhancements to keep our technology faster, efficient and more powerful. In addition, an industry favorite, Group Ride, is available on all 7S displays and allows riders to ride at their own paces while still staying connected and communicating with others they are riding with that day. The system’s integrated Bluetooth in the 7S Display allows you to connect to your mobile device and sync your account whenever you want — all great offerings for riders exploring the backcountry.

In addition to technology advancements, the Polaris Snow model year 2025 lineup features more than 20 quality improvements to help deliver the best riding experience on snow. Among the improvements include a new P22 Forged Spider Cover and Clutch Bolts and new rail caps for Matryx RMK models, all of which will improve sled durability and performance for riders.

SnowCheck, a comprehensive customization spring order program, launched for 2025 snowmobile model ordering on March 4 and will run through March 27. SnowCheck gives customers an opportunity to get exclusive factory customization to build their dream sleds, choosing model, engine, colors, options and technology with up to a four-year warranty. Originally introduced with model year 2024, Polaris is again offering a SnowCheck Ship Guarantee*, which promises all 2025 SnowCheck orders will ship by Nov. 30, 2024.

]]>
Over the past few weeks, we’ve looked at what different options are available for customers in terms of snowmobiles, snow bikes and their accessories. Now, let’s look at how best to showcase these items and make the sale.

Marketing Snow Bikes

The main thing dealers have to overcome when selling snow bikes is their own prejudices and customers’ prejudices against them.

“The most common misconception is the difficulty to ride a snow bike in comparison to a typical snowmobile,” says Jason Davis, vice president of powersports at Michelin. “Some people are concerned about the stability and difficulty due to a snow bike having one ski. The snow bike is much easier to ride than most believe and makes the effort to navigate tight, steep terrain easier than a snowmobile. Once a person can try a snow bike, they understand the feel and maneuverability it provides.”

In addition, many dealers and users also believe that snow bikes are underpowered, thus detracting from the riding experience. While it’s true snow bikes may not have the power that snowmobiles do, they still pack a punch and are fun in different ways. The agility and riding style of a snow bike opens riders up to completely new terrains, allowing them to have fun in virtually every snow condition and terrain type.

Getting out and snow biking yourself will give you the firsthand experience you need to sell snow bikes. You also need to be familiar with your customer base and riding area to understand which kits to stock.

“The most important piece for a dealer is to stock the models that fit their terrain and snow conditions. Riders will see very different conditions and terrain in, say, Colorado or Washington, and dealers should have the right kits for those riders,” says Brock Bolin, Timbersled product specialist at Polaris.

Davis recommends, “Do your homework and stock models that are most popular for the bike brands used for snow biking. Take advantage of incentives for stocking models, as snow bike systems are typically a planned purchase.”

Once you’ve figured out what types of kits to order and have them in stock, build a turn-key snow bike to display on the dealer floor so customers can see what it looks like. But a simple display is not enough. The pitfall that many dealers who try to sell snow bikes — and snowmobiles, for that matter — run into is that they don’t ride them… and neither does anyone on their staff.

“It is a must to have a knowledgeable salesperson that is a rider themselves in order to provide as much information as possible to a prospective buyer,” Davis explains. “Conducting customer rides, featuring the products and accessories allow buyers to experience the product and also educate on adjustments to improve their performance as well as key differences between product offerings.”

In fact, several experts agree that demo rides are the key to success in selling snow bikes. However, take note: Snow bikes take a few hours for a rider to acclimate to, so it’s best to schedule half- or full-day demo rides to showcase the full snow bike experience.

Nels Eide, mountain product manager for Polaris, adds, “Not only can a dealer have a demo bike and take their customers out, but they can connect their passionate, existing [snow bike] customers with those who are interested in getting into the sport. The existing customers can be a great resource and answer a lot of questions with those who are new.”

Adding Accessories to the Purchase

Just as with any powersports vehicle, it’s best to mount accessories right on the snowmobile to show how they provide added style and functionality. Customers will be drawn more to a decked-out sled than a display of accessories. However, you should still consider having a complementary accessory display nearby to help reinforce what you’re trying to sell. After all, even if the accessory on the snowmobile isn’t exactly what the customer wants, it can start a conversation. Then, moving that customer to the parts and accessories department can drive home the sale when he or she sees the other options available.

Once that customer has committed to a snowmobile or snow bike purchase, it’s time to add accessories. Don’t let them leave without explaining what will be necessary. This is especially crucial for snowmobiles because of the associated costs.

“The number one way to sell accessories that go on your snowmobile is in the sale,” says Tim Piver, brand sales director for FLY Racing Street, Snow and Watercraft; HIGHWAY 21; GMAX; SP1; and UCLEAR at Western Power Sports. “It’s a lot harder to get people to come back. The way the costs are with snowmobiles, you can spend $22,000 on a snowmobile now without adding one accessory to it. It’s a lot harder to come back after you spent that kind of money and add another $1,000 to $1,500 in accessories.”

In addition, consider that many customers will drive hundreds of miles just to come buy a snowmobile. For these reasons, it’s critical to keep accessories in stock. Piver stresses that if you don’t have it, you can’t sell it. The best dealers do a good job of accessorizing the vehicle before it ever leaves the shop, but if you don’t have the accessories on hand, you’ve likely lost those extra dollars. Now, as far as snowmobile accessories go, what exactly should you be stocking, and how do you know what to order?

“The top items to stock would be bumpers, storage bags and rider protection accessories,” says Aaron Wallace, associate marketing manager for Pro Armor. “Having a variety of the top sled fitments for bumpers and knee pads on hand would be beneficial, as the top-selling sled models could easily be enhanced by an upgraded bumper or rider protection.”

Winters are long and hard in the areas where snowmobiling and snow biking are popular. You have plenty of opportunities to make the most out of the season — as long as you use some marketing savvy.

When most people think of a winter powersport vehicle, they think of a snowmobile. And while lately we’ve covered how to help customers find the right sled and what accessories they should buy for it, we would be remiss if we did not mention the other exciting ride that’s taken the industry by storm in recent years: snow bikes.

It’s important to let customers know that they have options available. Let’s take a look at the differences between these two types of sleds as well as some specific accessories for snow bikes themselves.

Snow Bikes vs. Snowmobiles

If you’ve ever gone from riding an ATV to a motorcycle, you’ve encountered the same sort of difference you would in switching from a snowmobile to a snow bike. The size, weight and balance of the vehicle each differ. A snow bike has a much narrower body definition than a traditional sled, because while snowmobiles are one cohesive unit, a snow bike is comprised of two portions coupled together – the frame of a dirt bike and a separate snow kit.

Ian Shelman, lead mechanical engineer for RALE Industries/Western Power Sports, explains, “The bulkhead of a snowmobile could be compared to the frame of a motorcycle. In a snowmobile, the bulkhead supports the motor and drive system, and the tunnel is rigidly attached to this bulkhead. In a snow bike, the frame and engine are one distinct portion that is separate from the tunnel and track system. In modern snow bikes, this offers an opportunity to provide articulation and suspension performance between the motorcycle frame and snow bike tunnel, so that the snow bike isn’t rigid from the ski to rear bumper like a snowmobile chassis.”

As a result, the thinner, more agile body of a snow bike allows it to navigate through tighter and steeper terrains that a snowmobile might not be able to go through. “That means, if you like to ride through backcountry forests or make tight turns, then a snow bike will give you a quick response and handling,” says Jason Davis, vice president of powersports at Michelin.

However, as with snowmobiles, you have to consider your terrain and the level of snow on the ground to determine where it’s best to ride a snow bike. While a snowmobile needs at least 6 inches of powder to run, a snow bike can run on just 4 inches. Furthermore, snow bikes perform better when the snow is a bit stickier and more set up so they can get a lot of traction. But if a customer is looking to cruise through deep drifts, a snowmobile might be the better way to go.

“In the deepest snow conditions, mountain snowmobiles will excel due to their additional power, traction and flotation, while snow bikes will be slightly limited. In low to moderate snow conditions, however, snow bikes are an absolute thrill and extremely capable machines,” Shelman states.

So, while snow bikes offer the playfulness of a motorcycle, snowmobiles offer power – and those are just two of the factors that make up the different customer bases for these machines.

Who’s Your Customer?

While a snowmobile rider can become a snow bike customer and vice versa, because of the vehicles’ different handling and snow abilities, these two customer bases are generally different. As a result, which vehicle the customer is looking for will generally come down to his or her intended use — mountain vs. trail/race riding.

Consider the different topographies of the most wintery regions of the U.S. — the Midwest is completely flat while the West is scarred with soaring mountains, and the Northeast has its own fair share of hilly terrain. So, while a Midwest rider is going to be sticking to trails and races, a Westerner or Northeasterner might be tearing up the slopes – whether racing or not. Add in the fact that West Coast snow tends to be drier and fluffier, while East Coast snow leans more on the wet and heavy side, and you’ve got several different factors to help your customer consider.

“In order to perform in deep snow conditions, mountain machines will utilize longer track lengths and taller track paddles than their trail and race machine counterparts,” Shelman notes. “The region of a consumer, as well as their preferences, have significant influence over what machine type and application is best for them.”

However, there’s another aspect of your customer to consider, which is yearly riding habits. Does your customer already own a dirt bike, or is this person completely new to wintery sports? All of this will play a big role in determining whether a snow bike or a snowmobile is a better fit.

Brock Bolin, Timbersled product specialist at Polaris, relays, “The majority of snow bike riders are dirt bikers who want to ride all year. They already have dirt bikes, and they love how [snow bikes combine] what they love about riding dirt bikes with the adrenaline of the backcountry in the winter.”

Nels Eide, mountain product manager at Polaris, adds, “Nearly all snowmobilers have had a previous snowmobile or have some connection to snowmobiling through friends or family. The customer riding [a snow bike] by and large wouldn’t have been interested in a snowmobile, so it’s been a lot of fun to get another group of customers out riding in the snow.”

Snow Bike Accessories

Now, if a motorcycle customer comes in to buy a snow kit for his or her bike, your job is to make sure that rider also walks away with the necessary accessories for said bike. In comparison to snowmobiles, snow bike accessories are, for the most part, unique to the vehicle, and Davis provides a checklist of popular and/or necessary ones:

  • Cargo rack: As with snowmobiles, you can attach a rack over the track, though it’s naturally smaller than the snowmobile version. “It’s easy to install, strong and can securely carry any essentials needed when riding,” Davis says.
  • Bogie wheels: If you’re looking to ride in low-snow conditions, these wheels, attached to the rail, will provide longevity and are simple to install, according to Davis.
  • Spare fuel carrier
  • Adaptations for winter use:
    • Extended foot pegs
    • Thermostat
    • Engine jacket
    • Heated handlebars
    • LED lighting
    • Thicker seats.

Several of the above adaptations are necessary accessories to keep the bike in working order. After all, the main body of a snow bike is a dirt bike, which is not made to handle wet powder.

“Thermostats are the most critical accessory for snow bikes,” Shelman asserts. “Dirt bikes are not intended to operate in such low temperatures and be inundated with snow continuously, so a thermostat controls the cooling of the bike so that it can maintain a proper operating temperature.” He also notes that having a thermostat to control engine temperature and prevent over fueling will help prolong engine life, as will running a snow-safe intake filter to prevent the engine from ingesting water.

“Engine blankets or armor kits are also common to shroud the engine from snow, and coolant-heated bars are a common method of warming the hand grips without drawing on the small electrical system in most snow bikes,” Shelman adds.

Speaking of heated grips, these are another obligatory modification – not just to keep moisture from adhering to them, but also to keep a rider’s hands thawed.

Recent Developments

Because a snow bike has less power than a snowmobile and rides better on shallower powder, snow bike manufacturers have been working the past few years to better utilize more of that power and also help the bike tread deeper.

“The focus of snow bikers today is weight reduction and optimizing performance in deep snow,” Davis states. “The weight of the system is key, as the available power from a traditional dirt bike motor is limited.”

Thus, manufacturers have been creating designs and innovations in the track that will give it optimum performance and traction in varying conditions — from deep snow to steep terrain. In addition, innovative suspension systems have elevated the performance ceiling and maximized the bike’s motorcycle-esque handling.

The evolution of snow bikes is happening incredibly fast, with new technology every year. If you sell snowmobiles and haven’t hopped onto the snow bike train just yet, you might want to get on before the snow melts! If you’re still on the fence about whether or not snow bikes make sense for your shop, there’s only one way you’ll be able to convince yourself.

“Get out and throw a leg over a snow bike!” Shelman recommends. “Snow bikes offer a completely unique snow experience that everyone really needs to try to understand.”

MoonBikes launched its premiere limited edition release due to high consumer demand: a sleek, new, all-black MoonBike. The new style is available for preorder today while supplies last for expected delivery in November 2022, just in time for the winter ski season.

Only 200 black MoonBikes will be produced globally, and 100 will be available for U.S. consumers. The latest version will include all of the same elements as the classic white and black/red styles that sold out during the brand’s U.S. launch this past December. In total, there will be only 500 new units produced for the North American market for the Winter 2022/2023 season.

MoonBikes aims to appeal to mountain lovers as the ultimate fun adventure experience while on the trail. Combined with the torque and power of an electric vehicle, Founder Nicolas Muron’s creation is changing the future of winter exploration and e-mobility for snow enthusiasts. MoonBikes’ revolutionary design, featuring a sleek front ski and rear track, gives users the freedom of an e-bike with the power of a motorcycle. When combined with the ultra-quiet motor, the rider is provided a truly unique experience that is a sustainable solution to winter exploration.

“My goal was to utilize my experience as an aerospace engineer to create a unique way to explore winter with an ultra-light electric vehicle that is easy to use, quiet, sustainable and — above all — fun to ride,” commented Founder and CEO Nicolas Muron. “If we can cut emissions from snowmobiles and off-highway vehicles on the trails and backroads and move to a more eco-conscious option, that’s a step in the right direction.”

2023 Timbersled Snow Bike Lineup Challenges Back Country Riding https://www.motorcyclepowersportsnews.com/2023-timbersled-snow-bike-lineup-challenges-back-country-riding/ Wed, 09 Mar 2022 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.motorcyclepowersportsnews.com/?p=192282 Timbersled is an innovative kit that attaches to a dirt bike, allowing the rider to convert a bike into a snow bike.

Polaris Timbersled reinforces its position as an industry leader in snow bike systems with an exciting new 2023 lineup of Timbersled models, choices of new model upgrades and options, and industry-leading accessory selections to take riders anywhere they want to go.

Timbersled is an innovative kit that attaches to a dirt bike, allowing the rider to convert his or her bike into a snow bike. By removing the front and rear wheel in a simple conversion process and replacing them with a ski and track, the enduro enthusiast can experience the snow-covered mountains in a season and environment they usually would not be able to ride in. Not only can this open up dirt bikers to a whole new world of snow, but it can also get them further into the back country than almost any other machine on the market. Timbersled is pushing the frontier of easily accessible snow biking through continued innovation and top-quality Polaris engineering.

“Timbersled continues to lead the snow bike industry by bringing innovation that delivers immediate response, precise handling and control, and loads of fun in a reliable and durable package. This allows consumers to be able to go anywhere they want to go and explore areas of the mountain they never thought possible. I am just getting into the sport myself and can understand why snowbiking continues to grow so rapidly with Timbersled leading the way,” said John Stockman, vice president and general manager, Polaris Snowmobiles & Timbersled.

The new ARO 3 Redesigned Lightweight Suspension Platform

Take riding to the extreme with the new ARO 3 Gen 2 platform. This new second-generation suspension design combines world-class engineering with rider-in-mind designs that allow the ARO 3 to capitalize on effortless handling and precision in the back country. With a dramatic 12-pound overall weight reduction that includes a new lightweight single-arm design and narrow rail system, the ARO 3 delivers a smooth edge-to-edge transition with less feedback from uneven terrain.

The Gen 2 Platform is also designed with an all-new lightweight track that features 3-inch paddles and 2 pounds less rotating mass. The paddles have an improved lug design that maintains the legendary ARO deep snow traction while increasing lift and maneuverability.

Timbersled ARO and Timbersled RIOT Efficient Power Delivery

Timbersled has revamped power delivery for 2023 by introducing the Quick Drive Timbersled (QDT) belt drive system reinforced with carbon fiber and shared with the popular Polaris Patriot Boost snowmobiles. With 48% less driveline inertia, QDT delivers more power and quicker track spool up for optimal deep snow performance. With significantly less maintenance than a traditional chain system by removing the need to lube a chain during the winter ride season, QDT offers a more effortless owner experience while minimizing noise and vibration on the mountain for a more enjoyable ride. Quick Drive for Timbersled provides riders with the most durable belt drive system in the industry and is available on Timbersled Pro and Race models during SnowCheck only.

Trim Levels and Options for 2023

Timbersled provides customization options for all riders to tune their systems to perfectly suit their unique riding styles, equipment preferences and all types of terrain. For 2023, Timbersled snow bike systems will be available in three trim levels: PRO, Premium and Sport.

The PRO trim is the most exclusive option, available only during the SnowCheck pre-order period. The PRO package comes with new QDT, high performance Fox IBP QS3 shocks with internal bypass and lightweight springs. It also includes lightweight driveline components developed on the racetrack for ultimate throttle response. The Pro trim level is available on Timbersled RIOT 3 and ARO 3 and comes with a variety of color options to choose from.

Canadian snowbike company and industry leader YETI SnowMX unveiled its 2023 snowbike systems, featuring improved technology for riders chasing backcountry powder adventures, looking for ultimate racing performance or simply wanting to explore new trails. Highly adaptable and compatible with most dirt bikes, the MX2023 models keep performance up a notch, no matter what snow conditions riders want to tackle.

YETI SnowMX’s 2023 lineup features a next generation snowbike track with 2.6-inch profiles, cup-shaped profiles in a leaning angle and an optimized geometry of the front spindle, resulting in better traction and flotation in all conditions, more horsepower to the surface, great traction and reduced drifting for smooth steering. This means sharper turns in technical areas, increased stability in rougher trails, reduced drag to help get more power from the engine to the snow without resistance and an overall more comfortable ride.

The 2023 YETI SnowMX systems are available in three models:

  • 137 MT: Designed for the toughest hill climbs and the deepest pow, the 137 MT is built strong enough to seize the biggest peaks.
  • 129 FR: Designed for the tightest tree lines, the 129 FR is now stronger and more responsive for all-round agility and boondock-ability.
  • 120 FR: Designed for aggressive freeriding in lower altitudes, the 120 FR was built to be more agile across shallow snow (available only during Snowcheck).

“Our 2023 YETI SnowMX snowbikes’ performance is unrivaled when factoring in its nimbleness, flotation, and how smooth of a ride it provides, especially when riding mountains and backcountry,” explained Guillaume Laplante, track system design and development leader for powersports at Michelin, Yeti SnowMX’s parent company. “We’re also seeing impressive results from the new spindle, with riders doing the same lines they used to faster and thanks to the ski allowing for less drag and no holding back. Power goes straight from the engine to the track and then hits the snow, bringing snowbiking to new levels.”

Snowbikers can order their new snowbikes through the YETI SnowMX Snowcheck program, providing nearly $1,600 in savings. Customers can also customize their rides via the YETIMIZER online tool for colors, options and accessories from March 1 to April 15. Other options include factory-installed cargo racks, wheel kits, shock upgrades and more.

The French start-up MoonBikes is conquering the American market with the world’s first electric snowbike. Born in the French Alps, the company’s mission was to create an electric snowbike that would revolutionize mobility on snow. Democratizing snow mobility with a pioneering design of ultra-light and affordable snowbike with respect to the environment, MoonBikes is the perfect alternative to the polluting and noisy snowmobiles. After conquering the European market, the company has now expanded to the U.S. The first vehicles will arrive just in time for Christmas.

Sustainable Mountain: A New Way to Experience Winter

MoonBikes is revolutionizing the snow mobility market with the world’s first electric snowbike. Eco-friendly and easy-to-ride, MoonBikes provides a new way to enjoy winter activities. Perfectly silent, this snowbike allows its users to explore the outdoors without disturbing the peaceful snowscape. More environmentally friendly than snowmobiles, this emission-free vehicle intends to play a role in the development of sustainable tourism in the mountains.

Passionate about the outdoors, MoonBikes founder Nicolas Muron has used his creativity to realize his vision: the creation of a fun, electric snowbike that is extremely easy to ride, store, transport and charge. The MoonBikes snowbike is only two-thirds the size of the average snowmobile. It gives its users the freedom of an e-bike with the power of a motorcycle. This brand-new category of vehicles is led by an innovative, patented propulsion system that is totally silent. The start-up partners with BOSCH to assemble the snowbikes.

The First MoonBikes Set Out to Conquer the U.S.

MoonBikes is the brainchild of Nicolas Muron. In the winter of 2015, while visiting his family home in the French Alps, Muron realized that snow mobility solutions were extremely limited. Haunted by the desire to change how people travel, have fun and explore nature during the winter, he put his experience as an aeronautical engineer at Dassault Aviation to task to create this unique vehicle. The start-up was created in 2018.

The year 2021 emerged as a promising year for the company. In Europe, 12 ski resorts adopted the innovative e-vehicle. Soon after closing a $5 million seed round, MoonBikes decided to accelerate its commercial development in the U.S. and, as a first step, opened an office in Boulder, Colorado, in September. Currently, 400 MoonBikes are being produced for both European and American markets. The company aims at producing 1,500 snowbikes next year.

The Success Story of a French Start-up Expanding Across the Atlantic

MoonBikes will change the face of winter seasons for years to come. Snowbikes’ users will now have a fun, silent and greener way of enjoying the snow. In only 15 minutes, any individual can learn how to drive it. MoonBikes will hire a team to support its growth. The company intends to double in size by 2023.

The company will attend the CES, the most influential tech event in the world, from Jan. 3-8, 2022 in Las Vegas.
