Women’s Motorcyclist Foundation Announces Dual Sport Rider Training Camp

The Women’s Motorcyclist Foundation, Inc invites riders to develop and hone their adventure riding skills while making worthy charitable contributions.

The Women’s Motorcyclist Foundation, Inc invites riders to develop and hone their adventure riding skills while making worthy charitable contributions. Rocky Gap State Park, Flintstone, MD, will serve as the base for WMF’s 2019 dual sport training camp named “Dirty For Good,” that is scheduled for  Aug. 7-12, 2019.

WMF has previously hosted dual sport rider training camps and tours in Colorado, California, Alaska plus the Yukon and Northwest Territories. With the completion of the Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route and with other eastern BDR routes in the pipeline, WMF sees the need to bring its template of multi-day, off-pavement riding camps to the eastern portion of the country too.

WMF’s target audience is intended to be women motorcyclists. However, others are welcome if they meet the registration and fundraising requirements. Registrants must have a motorcycle endorsement on their driver’s license along with a suggested minimum of 500 miles of recent riding. Additionally, riders must have the health, strength, stamina, agility and balance to be successful riding in the dirt and on trails.

WMF has always used the formula of providing high quality, moderately priced rider training programs that make contributions to worthy causes. The Women’s Motorcyclist Foundation is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) foundation. The Dirty for Good program has chosen several charitable objectives to benefit from the camp.

Working in conjunction with Xplor-International Off-Road Training Centers and SheADV, Dirty for Good will provide four days of professional dual sport training starting with closed range exercises and then moving out to situational training on the trails.

The following items will be provided to participants: camping, hot showers, GPX downloadable routes, tools, supplies for motorcycle maintenance and meals on Thursday evening through Monday morning. Registration is limited to the first 16 riders. There will be two groups: (1) beginner and (2) novice to intermediate level. The registration cost is $800 and will open Feb. 1, 2019. To receive registration materials or ask questions, email Sue Slate, National Programs Chair at [email protected], or call at 585-415-8230.

Each registrant commits to raising a minimum of $300. One hundred percent of these proceeds will go towards three charitable initiatives. WMF, Inc. will not use riders’ fundraising efforts for its operation costs. The overall goal is to raise $10,000 with this first Dirty for Good training camp.

Final Salute, an organization that supports female veterans facing difficulties transitioning to civilian life, will receive 50 percent of funds raised.

The Women’s Coalition of Motorcyclists will receive 25 percent of funds raised to provide train-the-trainer scholarships for female dual sport/adventure motorcyclists wishing to become off-road riding instructors.

The remaining 25 percent will be directed to scholarships for youths 17 years old and younger to take off-road rider training through credentialed off-road rider training programs. These scholarships will be allocated by WMF, Inc. a 501(c)(3) educational/charitable organization located in Le Roy, NY.
